What to do with a gremlin

Thursday, 13 July 2023 7:56 pm

This week has been quite a struggle for me.  Fatigue is kicking my butt and I’m not sleeping great but that’s nothing out of the ordinary.  I think what is dragging me down is knowledge fatigue.  I have been so intent on learning as much as I can so that I can charge ahead with building the Housebound Business Empire that I feel a bit burnt out before I’ve ever really got going.  I have been doing a lot of courses, joining challenges and generally trying to make sure I have at least some idea about the fundamentals of having an entirely online business (a first for me!). But all of that new knowledge and learning new programs has felt overwhelming this week.  I’ve been left feeling like I don’t know enough and driving myself a little batty with the sheer quantity of things that need to be done.  I don’t know why I’m finding it so hard to take my own advice this time and, just do the next thing!  I’m telling you all of this because I think we all have those moments of uncertainty.  We all have times when we think we’re out of our depth or too old, too sick, too tired, too whatever excuse we use.  You know what I mean.  The gremlin sitting on your shoulder telling you you can’t, or won’t.

So I need to do what I’d tell any of you in the same situation - take a little break if you need to.  Maybe read a book just for pleasure or go and sit outside with a warm drink.  After you feel like you’ve had a bit of a re-charge ask yourself if you’re just finding excuses to put off things you think are scary or unfamiliar.  Have a brain dump and pour out your heart on paper (or screen). Now what’s the next thing you need to do?  If you had no fear of failing and were guaranteed success what would it be?  Write it down.  Now either get started or put it in the schedule for first thing tomorrow.

Till next time,

Sarah-Jane
